Tips for Taming Curly Hair: Natural Curl Products

Date:

While you shouldn’t give up on a good wet shampoo entirely, waiting longer between traditional shampoos can actually help your hair grow long and strong. Recently, reducing the number of times you wash your hair has become more and more popular. From The Curly Girl Method to Jasmine Rae’s Instagram craze to the “No-Poo Movement” aimed only at the most core granola type, pop culture seems to be back to the less frequent shampooing that was common 50 years ago.

I’ve tried many brands of dry shampoos over the years, and here are three of my favorite dry shampoos for thinning fine hair types.

1. Hask Dry Shampoo

Hask is definitely my favorite dry shampoo brand. It’s very effective at absorbing the oils of the most sweaty or greasy scalp types, making it the perfect choice for those trying dry shampoos for the first time. It also comes in a variety of scents! (My favorite is the Monoy coconut oil scent.) One of my favorite features of Hask dry shampoo is that, unlike many dry shampoo brands that give hair a matte look, Hask keeps hair clean, soft, and shiny. It’s also very affordable, so it’s suitable for almost any budget!

2.My Amazing Blow Dry Secret

I discovered this one day while browsing the product catalog during a break in the salon. When I tried it at home, I absolutely fell in love with it. While you can buy dry shampoo at almost any pharmacy, there is a noticeable difference in quality. Many pharmacy dry shampoos have a granular texture, and My Amazing Blow Dry Secret is imperceptible from the moment it is sprayed. It also boasts patented two-stage odor removal technology, making it the perfect dry shampoo to put in the gym for a lunchtime workout when you need a quick grooming.

3.Batiste Dry Shampoo

Not only does Batiste dry shampoo come in a variety of different scents, but also in four different shades, from light gold to dark brown. While there are plenty of dry shampoos out there, it’s hard to find one that doesn’t appear on the darkest hair colors. This one will disappear completely, so it’s a great option, especially if you have dark hair! Additionally, unlike many dry shampoo brands, Batiste also offers convenient, TSA-approved travel wear. When I travel, you can always find a bottle in my suitcase.

What Are the Benefits of Reduced Wet Cleaning?

It Tones Hair Naturally

The natural oils of the hair are one of the best conditioners. It’s like a personalized conditioning serum made just for your hair. With a consistent, vigorous combing, applying these oils along the strands can greatly improve hair health and overall appearance.

Save Time and Money

Reducing the number of shampoos can save a lot of time and a lot of hair care products. When I started washing my hair with wet shampoo every two months, I started saving about three hours a week, which is often used for washing and styling. (Don’t worry, I still shower more than that!) I also use far fewer shampoos and styling products!
