How to Use a Dry Shampoo

Dry cleaning shampoos have become very popular lately – and that’s no surprise. Its “no water required” hassle-free design means you don’t need to go into the shower to enjoy the benefits of freshly washed hair: perfect if you often find yourself rushing to prepare!

But how should you use it? Find our favorite tips on how to use dry shampoos for best results here.

Instructions for Use of Dry Shampoo

1. Find the one that works best for you

Your hair is as unique as you are, and as with any product you use, you need to match a dry shampoo to your hair type.

Some dry shampoos may have a specific hue: dark dry shampoo for black hair and light tone dry shampoo for blonde hair. Using the wrong hair may make your hair look a little discolored. Similarly, curly hair may prefer a dry shampoo that contains moisturizing ingredients, while fine or thinning hair may need a lighter option to prevent hair from becoming flat and lifeless.

2. Brace yourself!

Once you’ve found a dry shampoo that suits your hair needs, you can finally give it a try. But before spraying, you need to shake the bottle first!

The ingredients of an aerosol often settle to the bottom of the tank, which means that if you spray without stirring first, you may not receive any beneficial ingredients. Shake the spray can well to make every spray work.

3. Don’t spray too close

Most aerosols recommend not spraying too close to you, and dry shampoos are no exception. Always check the label to know how far away from the hair and scalp (usually 10-15 cm) should be sprayed and how to use dry shampoo properly.

Spraying too close to the head can mean that dry shampoo will collect in specific areas and not reach the rest of the hair. These series may leave a powdery, or even powdery look, which is definitely not what you want.

4. Let it rest

After applying the dry shampoo to your hair, let your hair rest for a while. That’s right: don’t touch it right away!

5. Massage or brush

After applying dry shampoo and resting, you can comb your hair with your hands and massage your scalp. It’s not just about relaxing – this action can help spread the product to the hair and allow the hair to absorb excess oil.

You can also use a hairbrush to perform this step – just avoid rough pulling or brushing, which could cause damage.

6. Design your hair

Now is a great opportunity to design a hairstyle. If you are not in too much of a hurry, you can blow your hair with a hair dryer; Just make sure to use the low temperature setting. Blow drying also helps the product spread to the hair, removing any residue and adding volume to the hair.

Dry Cleaning Agent Warning

Don’t replace regular shampoos!

Regular shampoos are designed to cleanse and nourish hair regularly, while dry shampoos are a quick, temporary fix. It’s not meant to replace your usual shampoo, so don’t abandon your regular shampoo because of it.

Don’t use it every day!

The convenience of dry shampoos makes it tempting to use them every day, but it can be bad for your hair or scalp. Overuse of dry shampoo without proper (wet) shampoo in the middle can cause dry powder to accumulate on the scalp. This can clog your hair follicles and make your hair more fragile and brittle.

Say Goodbye to the Bad Hair Era!

It is best to wash your hair with warm water at least 2-3 times a week (not daily) and only use dry shampoo when you need to rejuvenate your hair between washes.

Hopefully, with this guide, you can better understand how to use a dry shampoo and learn some tips to ensure the best results and reduce the chances of bad hair.
